Mercer Court Hotel offers affordable nightly bed and breakfast accommodation and weekly self catering apartments. Used as student accommodation by the College of Surgeons in the winter and open each year from mid June to late September, it is the ideal location for those visiting Dublin City Centre.
Mercer Court, originally a medical school and hospital, was founded by Mary Mercer in 1734. The board of governors invited Handel to visit Dublin in 1741 to raise funds for the hospital and as a result the first performance of Handel's Messiah took place on April 13th 1742 in St Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin.
In the winter it serves as accommodation for students at the nearby College of Surgeons, in summer it is available to visiting tourists who flock to it as it is very near the Stephens Green Shopping Centre and Grafton Street.
Mercer Court Hotel is also in close proximity to many of Dublin's bars, restaurants, museums, theater's, shopping districts and visitor attractions. Thus its prime location give all guests the opportunity to explore the attractions and experience the atmosphere of Dublin City Centre.
